My Beliefs

"Fort Worth Stockyards Lodging." Fortworthstockyards.org. 2009 Web. 24 October 2012. <http://www.fortworthstockyards.org/Lodging.aspx>

During my time researching this fascinating topic of the haunting of Miss Molly's Bed and Breakfast, I have come to believe that it is haunted. I believe in a haunting because of the videos and pictures that I have viewed about this subject. While I am skeptical of the mediums or extrasensory evidence, I do see the strange photos and videos as believable. The trail of vapor hanging around the bed, the tales of people being touched with no one else there, the flashlight that goes on and off by itself are enough to make my skin crawl. Reading some of the reports of the investigations showed me a lot of the science that went into these reports. I do have to add that I have never been to Miss Molly's but writing this blog has made me want to go to stay the night. Just the hope of a door shutting by itself or even feeling someone touch me when no one else around is enough to get my blood pumping. I did go into this project wanting to believe it is haunted; so I tried to find anything to disprove this theory. While some of the evidence could be explained away, there was a lot that could not be rationally explained. When you discount the obvious reason the only answer left is the obsure reason. So I have come to the decision that I am going to have to visit to find out for my self. Maybe I will leave this fascinating bed and breakfast with my own ghost story to tell.

Evidence of the Ghostly Kind?

During my research for this blog I came across many websites dedicated to the phenomenon at Miss Molly's. Many different paranormal investigation groups have traveled to Fort Worth to see if all the stories are true. Stockyards Paranormal Investigations came in 2006 with equipment ready. The investigation team did capture one EVP or electronic voice phenomenon(Miss Molly's). It is not very good evidence as it is not clear. There was one photo that was captured though that is very intriguing. It seems to show a face in the mirror behind one of the team members(Miss Molly's). There are four pictures posted on the team's websited of fuzzy orbs (Miss Molly's). TexPart Paranormal LLC also did an investigations at Miss Molly's (Fort Worth Inn). This investigation used two rooms as controls (Fort Worth Inn). They did not enter these rooms unless something was recorded on their epuipment (Fort Worth Inn). As the team did their pre-investigation data recording, they expericenced severe power drainage to their equipment which continued through the entire investigation (Fort Worth Inn). Some of their experiences included their cameras moving without anyone in the room, doors locking on their own, and motion sensors going off with no one in the room ( Fort Worth Inn). One investigator had hairs pulled from the back of his head (Fort Worth Inn).

One piece of physcial evidence was caught on tape, a vapor trail was photographed in Miss Josie's room (Fort Worth Inn).  Sebourn Paranormal investigations visited Miss Molly's just this year; where they captured many intresting photos. In one photo there is an outline of a woman wearing a sunbonnet (The Many Spirits).  Two of the team were sitting in the Railroaders' Room, where a picture was captured of an orb passing between them ( The Many Spirits). There was also video captured of a flash light turning on and off by itself with an investigator urging the spirit on (The Many Spirits). These are just some of the many different types of evidence that I came across in my search for the truth.

Haunted happenings at Miss Molly's

There are many tales of the ghostly happenings at Miss Molly's. According to TexPart Paranormal LLC., there are reports of paranormal activity in all eight themed rooms at the Bed and Breakfast (Fort Worth Inn). The two of the more famous rooms for sightings are the Cowboy room and the Cattlemen's Room (Fort Worth Inn). Paula Schermerhorn  writes that caught on tape was a full bodied specter trying to close a door in Miss Amelia's room(www.examiner.com). A former owner of the Bed and Breakfast tells the tale of a housekeeper who could not handle the ghostly happenings according to Brian Righi (29). The housekeeper would find coins in a room that had no guest so she would finish cleaning then come back later to find the coins she had removed right back where they had started (Righi 30). A local journalist reported seeing a young, blonde woman standing at the end of his bed staring at him (Righi 30). A few seconds later the mysterious blonde woman disappeared (Righi 30).  An entity of a small girl of 8 or 9 has appeared to the owners in their private rooms (Schermerhorn). TexPart Paranormal conducted an investigation in Miss Molly's where they expericened many different phenomeon (Fort Worth Inn). One investigater had some of his hair pulled out while they couldn't find any explanation for it (Fort Worth Inn). Miss Molly's is considered one of the most haunted places in Texas (Schermerhorn).

History of a Haunted Bed and Breakfast

"Miss Molly's Bed and Breakfast." Tripadvisor.com. 2012. Web. 22 October 2012. www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g55857-d114951-Reviews-Miss_Molly_s_Bed_and_Breakfast-Fort_Worth_Texas.html

The building which now houses Miss Molly's Bed and Breakfast has a rich history. According to Robert and Anne Wlodarski, the building was establised as a boarding house for visitors, cowboys and cattle salsemen in 1910 (71). During the 1920's it was managed by woman called Amelia Elmer and was called The Palace Rooms (Wlodarski and Wlodarski 71). These time periods cashed in the the cattle boom of the Old West. Henry Bailey writes that after the Palace Rooms went out of buiness, the building was renamed the Oasis (Miss Molly's). During the probation period that swept the nation; the Oasis answered the cry for alchol by being a speakeasy. Its next identity was that of the bordello called the Gayatte Hotel(Wlodarski and Wldorski 71). Two major meat packing companies were lured to Fort Worth by the  Cowboys and workers were attracted to the new thriving meat industry in Fort Worth (Wlodarski and Wlodarski 71). Miss Josie King saw an opportunity to cash in on this growing econmy (Wlodarsk and Wlodarsk 71).  Brian Righi writes that when the cattle trade faded; the Gayatte Hotel closed it doors and Miss King was never heard from again (28). For a time the building then became an art gallery but in its present state it has been renovated to be the historical bed and breakfast known as Miss Molly's (Wlodarski and Wlodarski 72).

My intrest in Miss Molly's Bed and Breakfast.

The paranormal has always fascinated me.  Ghosts, strange lights, and unexplained sounds are just some of the things that make my imagination soar. As I was trying to decide on my topic for this blog, I thought of some of the paranormal  experiences in my life. I went on a ghost tour in Atchinson, Kansas; which was exciting as I was able to learn about paranormal events close to my home. So I wanted to discover what ghostly happenings my new state, Texas, had in store. My husband was watching a show on haunted places which introduced me to Miss Molly's Bed and Breakfast. In every book about Texas ghosts I read; I found references to Miss Molly's. As I read more about Miss Molly's, I learned it was right down the road from my house. So I had to learn more. Just the weathered facade of the building makes me think of times long past. Thinking about what stories took place here; it is hard to imagine that something of the past is not left behind. I firmly believe that drama, coupled with tragedy leaves an impression on a place. Just what I have heard about this hotel makes me want to stay the night to visit with the ghostly apparitions.
